Privacy policy

Lookwins ("we," "us") operates lookwins.com, a marketplace connecting local businesses with apartment communities that have shared-space TV screens. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled. It's written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate — if anything here is unclear, contact us and we'll explain further.

Information we collect

When you create a business account: your name, email address, a hashed (never plain-text) password, and optionally a business name and contact phone number.

When a property is listed: property owners don't create their own accounts — Lookwins sets up a host account directly with the property manager after verifying them. That account holds the property manager's name and email, and the property's name, address, neighborhood, and screen details.

When you book: the dates, screen, and price of the booking, and any image or video file you upload as ad creative.

When you contact us: whatever you include in the contact form — name, email, and your message.

Automatically: your IP address is used briefly to prevent abuse (for example, limiting how many login attempts or signups can come from one connection in a short window). It is not permanently logged or used to track you across visits. We use a single, secure, essential cookie to keep you logged in — no third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

To operate the marketplace: creating your account, showing you relevant listings, processing bookings, and sending transactional emails (booking confirmations, cancellations, password resets, and replies to messages you send us).

To keep the platform safe: rate-limiting and account lockout to slow down automated abuse or password-guessing.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run the site, and only share what's necessary for each to do its job:

Vercel (hosting and file storage for uploaded photos and ad creative), Neon (our database provider), Resend (delivers transactional emails like booking confirmations and password resets), and OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service (turns a property's street address into map coordinates so it can be pinned on the map — only the address text is sent, no account information).

We don't share your information with anyone else, except if required by law.

Payments

Lookwins is currently an early-stage build and does not process real payments through the platform. Any payment between a business and a property host currently happens directly between them, outside of Lookwins. We don't collect or store card numbers, bank details, or other payment credentials.

How long we keep it

We keep account and booking information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account or data deleted, contact us and we'll take care of it, aside from anything we're required to retain for legitimate business or legal reasons.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time — just reach out through the contact page. Business accounts can also update their own details after logging in.

Children

Lookwins is intended for business owners and property managers, not children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. The site is served over HTTPS, uses security headers, rate limiting, and account lockout after repeated failed logins. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, standard precautions.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
